Dover Bull

An avid rider from the young age of eight years old, Dover learned to ride bareback on a family friend’s pony and has been in love with the equestrian life ever since. As the daughter of two accomplished artists, riding and caring for horses was how Dover expressed her creativity and now it is her mission, to help others do the same!

By the time Dover was in her early teens, she was showing, attending pony club, fox hunting, eventing, and working in barns to pay for her horses. Delaware Valley Horseman’s Association was a local show that offered English and Western classes and had the famous bareback dollar class, which Dover frequently won! Fun fact: this class would often go as far as having the final two contestants jump fences to have one rider finally drop the dollar! At age fourteen, she won the ASPCA Henry Bergh National Horsemanship award, which is also when she started taking riding lessons from George Morris. Throughout her junior years, she continued to compete in equitation, including the AHSA Medal and ASPCA Maclay. Dover was involved in the local equestrian scene until she graduated from high school. She then went to work for Hunterdon (George Morris), traveling the country and spending winters in Wellington, Florida, on the horse show circuit.

As an adult, Dover has competed in the Jumpers and Hunters. She originally started DCB Equestrian, LLC in Tryon, NC, training students and their horses, horse showing, and importing warmbloods from the Netherlands for clients and as sales prospects. She continued on this path for many years, eventually stepping out of the horse business to build a career in pharmaceutical marketing. With her BA in Business Administration, she spent the next fifteen years working her way up to be president of a small medical communications agency. In 2017 Dover established CONNX Clinical Solutions, LLC which offers custom medical content to the pharmaceutical industry.

Over the past 10 years, Dover’s passion for equine bodywork and rehabilitation has steadily grown. Now, DCB Equestrian will focus on Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy, Equine Sports Massage, and Rehabilitation. In partnership with her daughter, Phoebe Bull, they have launched DCB Equestrian Wellness to provide holistic care for horses.

Phoebe Bull

Phoebe Bull, originally from Bucks County, has cultivated a lifelong passion for the equestrian sport, characterized by her exceptional ability to connect with horses. From her early days riding ponies in her backyard—where she fondly recalls doing homework beside her pony in the stall—Phoebe has developed an innate understanding of equine body language, which she skillfully integrates into her training methodology.

Classically trained under the guidance of her mother, a protégé of renowned equestrian George Morris, Phoebe has a rich competitive history. She has progressed from local cross-rail shows to prestigious equitation classes, including the Medal, Maclay, and USET, as well as the junior hunter division and children’s jumpers. Growing up within a professional equestrian business, she gained invaluable experience working with challenging horses and training young horses, honing her skills as both a rider and an instructor from an early age.

Phoebe’s dedication to her craft led her to international experiences in Belgium and Holland as a working student. In Belgium, she rode for a boutique exporting business specializing in training horses for the U.S. market, allowing her to ride multiple horses daily and accompany the owner in sourcing horses around Belgium. Her subsequent role in Holland at Stal Hendrix, one of Europe’s leading breeding and training facilities, further enhanced her understanding of the industry. Here, she was responsible for a 10-stall barn and gained firsthand insight into the intricacies of horse breeding and training. As well as aiding in attending horse shows, showing horses to top US professionals and honing her riding abilities.

Continuing her education, Phoebe earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature with a minor in Education from Mount Holyoke College, where she played a pivotal role in leading the equestrian team to the IHSA National Collegiate Team Championship and the Tournament of Champions title. Her commitment to mentorship and teaching has been significant, fostering the development of her teammates and other riders.

With a second bachelor’s degree in physics, Phoebe delved into the science of biomechanics, enhancing her comprehension of equine movement and behavior. Her research into the neurological processes of horses has deepened her appreciation for their instincts and communication methods, allowing her to forge a deeper bond with these remarkable animals.

As an adult, Phoebe has worked with elite hunter/jumper barns, gaining insights into competitive equestrianism. Her time at Bucks County Equine expanded her knowledge of equine veterinary medicine and nutrition. As a head trainer at a local barn, she effectively managed over 100 students weekly while riding multiple horses, applying her extensive experience to refine her training techniques.

Throughout her career, Phoebe has remained committed to ongoing education, continually advancing her skills in horse training and student instruction. Her passion for equine bodywork stems from her dedication to promoting the health and well-being of the horses she works with.

In her current endeavor, Phoebe has partnered with her mother, Dover Bull, to merge their expertise and elevate the health and welfare of these extraordinary creatures that enrich our lives and culture. Together, they strive to enhance the understanding and care of horses, ensuring they thrive in a supportive environment.
